biting...

Not that Claire has teeth yet, because this seven month old does NOT, but she still bites me when I nurse!

STOP IT, CHILD! That hurts!

I have noticed no difference when I ask her to stop, stop nursing her for a minute to show her I mean business, or tap her mouth to indicate that I mean it's her little mouth that needs to stop doing what it's doing. Mothers out there: WHAT ON EARTH SHOULD I TRY!? And I am grateful she doesn't have teeth for this reason alone!

A note to the future Claire that reads this: I love you dearly, little one, but you will understand better when you're a mommy.

At least she has NO teeth. Bree got her first one and it feels like a razor when she bites me.
I would aand do the same thing that you are doing.

I guess there are some benefits to having a baby on formula... Good luck there!

Oh I just laughed! When Sydney started biting she was already 9 months old and I threw in the towel...good luck! Oh, and I will email you my address and I need to re-post that cute idea so I can pass along the love!

oooh that is really the worst! You will have trouble when the teeth come though. Continue to be firm on that issue - she needs to know you're right on this one. You're doing the right things. Good luck!

Yeah, I hate that. Maddy and Miles both went through a stage where they would bite down and pull away (while still biting down). OUCH! I don't think there is anything more that you could do that you aren't already doing. Hopefully this is a short-lived phase.

I just had to say that I don't comment because this is the first time in a while that you've posted (and like 25 posts at once! ha!).
As for biting: I've heard a LOT of different things. It depends on what you feel okay with. Some books/people say you can loudly say "NO!" And END the feeding for 30 minutes. Some babies get scared at this and will go on the "nursing strike"--others think it's a game and will keep doing it. If you suspect teething try massaging her gums/give her a cold/damp washcloth to mouth/give a teething toy to her before the feeding. You can also watch her for cues that she's just playing instead of eating (expression on face, snacking, looking around a lot). Another thing you can do it pull her into the breast so her nose is partially blocked so that she'll release the breast to breathe. Most babies will get the picture after this one. Sorry this was LONG!
