twins...

So, Sunday morning, I walk into the bathroom as Nick was getting Claire ready...

(I'm making you scroll down so you understand my surprise.)

Claire just stared at me like it was the most normal thing in the world. Granted, Daddy does make her hair sTicK uP on a regular basis, this was just a bit more than I had ever seen. He even put in hAiR gEL!

Needless to say, I made them re-enact it for me later so I could take pictures. Aren't they SO CUTE!!!? And, yes, she did go to church like this! I wasn't there for anything but Sacrament meeting (it was my last day at the zoo! boo-hoo!), but I wonder if they had any comments!?

first tooth...

My baby is almost nine months and she just cut her first

tooth
yesterday (look super close...just barely above the surface, below the bubble). I had a feeling it was coming, but I thought the fussy-ness was coming from her being sick (she has a bad cough and a fever). But I guess a lot of it had to do with the tooth, I hope.
(can't really see the tooth in this pic, but i love the look she's giving us).
Mothers: When did your babies cut their first tooth?

She so CUTE!
she has this new face that she keeps doing. She'll be sitting up, clapping her hands and then make this "oh" face. I need to take a picture of it.

tub time III...

Time with Daddy! Always a favorite!

The crawl position.

I new milestone is always worth mentioning! She's done it for a while, just haven't posted the oh, so adorable pics on it yet.

skin...

Some people are leg people, or butt people. Claire seems to be a skin person. When she's naked, she rubs her hands up and down her tummy or even over her arms to feel her skin. When I nurse her to put her down for bed, she rubs my face with her little hands. It's one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Can't believe she's already 8 months! She can pull herself up now and is the biggest buzy body ever!

bath time...

okay, I have never been able to get a shower in before 10 am, when Claire takes a nap. So, I've been trying alternate ways of fitting it in earlier. Yesterday, I just took Claire into the shower with me and let her sit in the bathtub when I was washing my hair. She was EVERYWHERE! So, finally, I wrapped her up in a towel and strapped her down to her changing pad (which is on our dryer). I finished washing my hair---while trying to watch her---and within seconds, she had pulled the infant bathtub which is really just right above her on the dryer, too; on top of her! She was laughing and giggling underneath her bathtub. When she finally knocked that to the ground, she started to skwak, having lost her toy that was bigger than her.

Okay Moms. Teach me how to shower!!!

Visting grandparents...

I have to say that it has been amazing to be around family and feel like it's okay to have someone else watch Claire besides Nick or me. I am so used to having a feeling of total paranoia about how I am supposed to fit everything in, or going to the store, or waiting for Claire to get up after a nap. The only relief I had was on my Tuesdays at Box Elder High School where Claire isn't even around me and Nick is watching her at home. Didn't know I was so tightly wound until this trip. I am grateful that I have great family (on both sides) that are so willing to help me out when I need it. GRANDPARENTS ROCK!

crawling...

This child moves! She's not so great at the crawling yet. Usually she'll take a few crawling movements forward to the object she wants, but then she will flop down to her stomach and reach for the item she is craving. Usually that happens to be something she shouldn't have or even FOUND!

She makes me laugh so hard. I can hardly believe that she is such a nomad! She never stays anywhere for longer than a second. I will go into the next room to find something and be back in 30 seconds and she'll have already made it across to the cord that was so far out of reach when I left I never thought it a danger.

I have a playpen that we WILL be using (I'm trying not to 'child proof' too much of my house because I figure that she should just LEARN a lot of things aren't for her. Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to let her electricut herself or something equally as stupid. But pulling books off the shelves I'm going to try and have her learn before she even starts, that that is a no-no---we'll see how that goes).

back by popular demand...

Claire gets so 'punch drunk' whenever Daddy comes home that it is so easy to get her to giggle about anything. Right now, even being naked will get her going. So funny to watch!

everywhere...

She rolls and rolls, and ROLLS, everywhere! I've read a few books that tell me that now is the time to put her in a playpen for play time because then I can contain her from getting into everything. then to slowly make that area bigger that she's allowed to play in. Moms? What do you think? Is that silly? Is it just delaying the inevitable?

LOVE MY KID! She has really started signing for herself, not just in anticipation of what I'm signing to her. She can only do 'milk' right now, but I tell you it's so darn cute! She's going to be one in like 5 months! I'M NOT READY!

She gets 'punch drunk' when she's tired and laughs at everything. I love to see that girl smile. Good thing I get to keep her.

Going to Colorado next week to visit Grammie and Grampa Sorensen. It's so great to know that she is loved by so many people.
